Double Blind

Double Blind (2005)
for LIPA Gallery, Chicago, IL
Video projection, two chairs, clock, 6-minute loop w/sound

Based on the premise that it is not until the end of a pursuit that we discover its result, Double Blind explores my father’s fear of dying. According to certain authorities, one cannot be pronounced dead for 6-minutes after the last resuscitation attempt. Other accounts note that our hearing is the last sense to cease functioning. Double Blind rests, as my father believed, inside of this vacuum of waiting.

(double blind, n., a testing procedure designed to eliminate biased results, in which the identity of those receiving a test is concealed from both administrators and subjects until after the study is complete.)
