Reflecting on the Orwellian notion of censorship, Cutting Into the Memory Hole is an attempt to confront personal and cultural shame. While slicing out words deemed shameful from decades old journals, Jahoda reads what is left of the text. Along with iconic imagery from political and personal archives, the act of reading, censoring, and re-reading questions the truth of memory, the holes that are created, and our ability to recreate a more beautiful past.
